Maela Ohana is an artist and independent curator focusing primarily on urban ecology, new topographics and landscape photography. She is currently living and working in Montreal, Canada. She is the founder and director of Archive Contemporary art gallery,  Archive Collective Magazine; and co-founder of The Earth Issue, a collective of artists positioned at the intersection of visual art and environmentalism. 

Exhibitions and awards:
In 2019, Maela Ohana received the Sony World Photography Award in the Professional Nature and Wildlife category and was exhibited at Somerset House. She has been exhibited at Duran Mashaal Gallery as a finalist of the Bombay Sapphire Emerging Artist award, and at the Venice Biennale Off-Circuit on San Servolo island.

Studies: Venice Academy of Fine Arts, Italy (contemporary art), McGill University (marketing, anthropology, with distinction). Prior curatorial experience: Biasa Contemporary Art Gallery, Bali (assistant curator), Venice Biennale (assistant), Veneklasen Werner, Berlin (gallery assistant)
